Focus On Your Dream

It takes a conscious effort to first decide and then to focus on your dream. How do you go about deciding what your true dream in life is? The first step is to get quiet, close your eyes, pray or meditate, and allow your subconscious mind to deliver ideas to your conscious mind. As ideas flow into your mind, you will experience the positive emotions those ideas evoke.

My dream is to have the time and freedom to recognize opportunities to be creative and productive in ways that energize and excite me. When I worked as a nurse, my time and energy were used up by the endless and repetitive tasks that my job demanded. Now I spend 15 to 30 minutes every morning simply allowing my mind to dream of the ways I can be of service to others.

Just yesterday, I decided to start a new program for the people of my church to share their faith and dreams. Meanwhile, I spend my days pursuing my business goals, preparing for the Bible study I facilitate, caring for my elderly mother, and having fun with my family and friends. To me, this represents a balance in life I never had when I was exhausted from work.

Stop now and define for yourself what happiness is for you. For me it is a sense of well-being which gives me purpose and hope. According to Shawn Achor of Harvard University, meaning is subjective. I have the power to decide what is meaningful in my life. So do you. What has meaning for you determines the dream you have for your life.

So focus on your dream and your subconscious will deliver the means for achieving it. You are already taking the first step by opening your mind to the possibilities that excite you. I look forward to talking to you about how you can take the steps I did to focus on and realize your dreams.
